Speaker 1: Previously on the Chosen people.
00:00:04
Speaker 2: Can you count the stars Abram?
00:00:06
Speaker 1: Abram shook his head uncertain.
00:00:09
Speaker 2: You cannot, for there are too many. It is impossible.
00:00:14
Speaker 2: It is to be the same with your offspring. The
00:00:17
Speaker 2: great nation I shall make through your air would be
00:00:21
Speaker 2: as innumerable as the stars in the night sky.
00:00:27
Speaker 3: God Most High, I know what you have promised me.
00:00:31
Speaker 2: But how let me ask you? This is anything impossible?
00:00:37
Speaker 2: For God Almighty? Is anything too hard or too marvelous
00:00:42
Speaker 2: for him to achieve?
00:00:44
Speaker 1: No?
00:00:45
Speaker 2: At the appointed time, I will come back to you.
00:00:48
Speaker 2: In about a year, she will have my son.
00:00:55
Speaker 3: How could this be?
00:00:56
Speaker 4: After all this time, when I am worn out and
00:01:00
Speaker 4: my Lord is old? Will I have this delight?
00:01:03
Speaker 1: She had given up on that dream a long long
00:01:05
Speaker 1: time ago. Just then, another wave of pain rippled through
00:01:10
Speaker 1: her low stomach. She clenched her jaw and waited for
00:01:13
Speaker 1: it to subside. A thought began to take shape in
00:01:16
Speaker 1: her mind as it dropped. There could this pain be
00:01:20
Speaker 1: the beginning of something, the beginning of an ability she
00:01:24
Speaker 1: had never possessed. No, it couldn't be.
00:01:33
Speaker 4: There.
00:01:34
Speaker 5: In the silence of many years, a cry was heard,
00:01:38
Speaker 5: the sound of laughter, from the depths of a divine
00:01:41
Speaker 5: promise shalloon my friends from here in the Holy Land.

00:02:36
Speaker 5: the beginning of Genesis twenty one, we find ourselves witness
00:02:40
Speaker 5: to a miracle, the birth of Isaac. But this story
00:02:45
Speaker 5: is so much more than just a birth, isn't it.
00:02:49
Speaker 5: Isaac's arrival is a testament to our faith and a
00:02:52
Speaker 5: God who can bring life from what seems barren, who
00:02:56
Speaker 5: can bring hope to our own long force, sake and dreams.
00:03:01
Speaker 5: As we dive into the saga inspired by Genesis twenty
00:03:05
Speaker 5: one one to seven. Let's open our hearts to miracles
00:03:10
Speaker 5: in our own lives that reshape and redefine our very
00:03:15
Speaker 5: own stories.
00:03:20
Speaker 1: Sarah's cries echoed through the tent, each scream a testament
00:03:24
Speaker 1: to the agony and determination coursing through her. Sweat glistened
00:03:29
Speaker 1: on her forehead, mingling with tears of pain and anticipation.
00:03:40
Speaker 4: Can you see him yet?
00:03:44
Speaker 6: No, my lady, keep pushing. Any minute now, we'll see
00:03:49
Speaker 6: the head.
00:03:49
Speaker 1: Sarah was sobbing through the pains of her labor. She
00:03:53
Speaker 1: remembered a time not so long ago that she had laughed.
00:03:56
Speaker 1: In disbelief, she clung to the memory of laughter, a
00:04:00
Speaker 1: distant echo from a time before the labor pains consumed her.
00:04:04
Speaker 1: How surreal it seemed now, the miracle of childbirth turning
00:04:08
Speaker 1: her joy into this excruciating trial.
00:04:12
Speaker 6: Keep breathing, my lady.
00:04:13
Speaker 1: Sarah's response was a guttural scream. And to think this
00:04:18
Speaker 1: was what all other mothers went through, and many of
00:04:21
Speaker 1: them more than once. This excruciating pain and discomfort in
00:04:25
Speaker 1: her body was harrowing. Sarah felt the intensity of each contraction,
00:04:30
Speaker 1: her body straining with the effort of bringing new life.
00:04:33
Speaker 2: Into the world.
00:04:34
Speaker 1: She wasn't sure she had the strength to see this through,
00:04:38
Speaker 1: but she considered the pure joy she had felt upon
00:04:41
Speaker 1: discovering that she was with child. The memory of her
00:04:45
Speaker 1: joy upon discovering her pregnancy fueled her resolves. It had
00:04:49
Speaker 1: been a time of triumph, a time when Abraham's spirits
00:04:53
Speaker 1: soared with new found gratitude. As she bore down with
00:04:57
Speaker 1: another contraction, her mind drifted to the fateful encounter with
00:05:01
Speaker 1: the stranger who foretold this very moment. His prophecy had
00:05:05
Speaker 1: seemed absurd, prompting her incredulous laughter. Yet here she was,
00:05:10
Speaker 1: her body proving the stranger right. The pain a harsh
00:05:15
Speaker 1: reminder of the promise fulfilled. Another forceful contraction racked her
00:05:20
Speaker 1: body as it inched the babe closer to the light.
00:05:23
Speaker 1: She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to send her
00:05:26
Speaker 1: mind elsewhere, anywhere, but here she thought of the happiest
00:05:31
Speaker 1: memory she could the day she told Abraham he was
00:05:35
Speaker 1: to be a father to the child growing inside of her.
00:05:40
Speaker 1: Abraham returned from a day's labor, his brow glistening with sweat,
00:05:45
Speaker 1: his clothes stained with the grime of toil. Sarah rushed
00:05:49
Speaker 1: to him, her excitement uncontainable.
00:05:54
Speaker 7: Abraham, slow down, my love, What is it. I can't
00:06:01
Speaker 7: remember ever seeing you running this fast? And look at you.
00:06:05
Speaker 7: You're grinning like a little girl.
00:06:08
Speaker 4: I can't help it. You're never going to believe it.
00:06:12
Speaker 4: It's finally happened. God's promised to us.
00:06:19
Speaker 7: With child.
00:06:20
Speaker 4: You're going to be our father.
00:06:25
Speaker 7: I know this is what we've been waiting for, but
00:06:28
Speaker 7: I'm having a hard time believing it. And Sarah, you've
00:06:38
Speaker 7: always been beautiful.
00:06:40
Speaker 3: I've never seen you look this beautiful.
00:06:43
Speaker 7: You're glowing. I can't believe how happy I am.
00:06:48
Speaker 1: Abraham, dirt, dust, grime, and aw scooped Sarah up and
00:06:57
Speaker 1: spun her around. They were acting like children, but Sarah
00:07:01
Speaker 1: was beside herself with joy. They were at the fruition
00:07:05
Speaker 1: of all their belief, only to proclaim how much they
00:07:08
Speaker 1: could not believe what was happening. She had laughed and
00:07:11
Speaker 1: laughed at the delicious irony of it. Abraham set her down,
00:07:16
Speaker 1: embraced her, his hands on either side of her face,
00:07:20
Speaker 1: looking deep into her eyes, and laughed right along with her.
00:07:25
Speaker 1: Sarah looked back into his eyes. She realized this was
00:07:29
Speaker 1: the first time in a long time that Abraham had
00:07:31
Speaker 1: truly looked at her and seen her. She curled up
00:07:35
Speaker 1: into his large arms, old but still tight with strength.
00:07:42
Speaker 1: Her sharp pain jolted Sarah back to the present, the
00:07:45
Speaker 1: pressure in her lower back unbearable. The midwife's voice urged her.
00:07:50
Speaker 6: On, my lady, you're almost there. I can see the head.
00:07:54
Speaker 6: Now take another breath and push again.
00:07:58
Speaker 1: Sarah did as the midwife had bid her to do.
00:08:02
Speaker 1: Her determination wavered as exhaustion assaulted her. She was so tired,
00:08:08
Speaker 1: and though she knew her body was doing a powerful thing,
00:08:11
Speaker 1: she felt so weak.
00:08:13
Speaker 6: Again, my lady, you cannot stop. Now take a breath
00:08:16
Speaker 6: and push again.
00:08:18
Speaker 1: Sarah screamed in response. The pressure in her lower abdomen
00:08:22
Speaker 1: was unfathomable. This had to be it. She didn't think
00:08:27
Speaker 1: she would last another moment longer. Over the sound of
00:08:30
Speaker 1: her screaming, almost an out of body experience, Sarah heard
00:08:34
Speaker 1: a tiny little cry.
00:08:38
Speaker 6: You did it, my lady. The babe is here.
00:08:42
Speaker 4: Boh is it a boy? Yes, my lady, it's a boy.
00:08:50
Speaker 1: A flock of midwives and servants had showed Abraham away
00:08:54
Speaker 1: that morning from his tent when Sarah's labors began. Shoot Abraham,
00:09:00
Speaker 1: the clan leader the warrior. The diplomat was shewed away
00:09:03
Speaker 1: like a child, but he reluctantly departed. This was woman's work.
00:09:08
Speaker 1: But he was so anxious and nervous that he didn't
00:09:11
Speaker 1: know what to do with himself. He half heartedly went
00:09:14
Speaker 1: about his business, but it was apparent to all that
00:09:17
Speaker 1: his mind was in the birthing tent with his wife.
00:09:20
Speaker 1: He was half listening to a shepherd explaining the shearing
00:09:23
Speaker 1: process to Ishmael. Ishmael was attentive to his teacher, but
00:09:27
Speaker 1: he was always perceptive. He kept one eye on his
00:09:30
Speaker 1: father and assessed his demeanor. The shepherd was droning on
00:09:34
Speaker 1: about cleaning and maintaining the tools when Elieza came running
00:09:38
Speaker 1: from the direction of the tents.
00:09:39
Speaker 2: Astrabram, Hurry, Eliezer, tell me one news.
00:09:45
Speaker 7: Sarah has given you a son, Isaac.
00:09:55
Speaker 2: Master.
00:09:56
Speaker 3: The boy's name's.
00:09:58
Speaker 1: Isaac Abraham, and wiped the tears from his eyes, clasped
00:10:02
Speaker 1: eli as Her on the shoulder in celebration, and hauled
00:10:05
Speaker 1: him along as he hurried to the tent to meet
00:10:07
Speaker 1: his new son. Ishmael didn't follow. Immediately, he looked down
00:10:12
Speaker 1: at the footsteps his father left in the dirt. His
00:10:15
Speaker 1: brow furrowed in deep thought. Then with a sigh and
00:10:19
Speaker 1: a nod, he padded behind his father, trying to line
00:10:22
Speaker 1: his steps with the footprints below. Abraham burst through the
00:10:28
Speaker 1: tent and stopped breathless. There he was cradled in Sarah's arms.
00:10:35
Speaker 1: Abraham's throat clenched and his palms began to sweat. Slowly, thoughtfully, quietly,
00:10:43
Speaker 1: he approached. Abraham was afraid to speak, as if the
00:10:47
Speaker 1: slightest whisper might blow the moment away. He softly, slowly
00:10:52
Speaker 1: reached out for Isaac. Then, just as his hands were
00:10:56
Speaker 1: about to touch him, the baby tensed, made a strange sound,
00:11:00
Speaker 1: began to cry, and immediately a yellowish brown liquid spilled
00:11:05
Speaker 1: all over Sarah's arm. The baby relaxed and went back
00:11:09
Speaker 1: to sleep. Abraham looked at Sarah, and Sarah to Abraham. Then,
00:11:15
Speaker 1: like two singers harmonizing to a tune, they both began
00:11:19
Speaker 1: to laugh. They laughed until tears streamed down their faces.
00:11:34
Speaker 1: Everyone in the room began to harmonize with them. Years
00:11:38
Speaker 1: of pent up tension from yearning for a child had
00:11:41
Speaker 1: finally released, ironically, just like the babies. Eight days later,
00:11:49
Speaker 1: after the circumcision ritual, Abraham was repeating the same story
00:11:54
Speaker 1: he had been telling for as many days to anyone
00:11:57
Speaker 1: he came across.
00:11:58
Speaker 7: When I entered the tent and saw Sarah cradling our boy,
00:12:02
Speaker 7: our Isaac, she burst out laughing, and I started laughing,
00:12:08
Speaker 7: and then everyone in the room was laughing. The God
00:12:13
Speaker 7: Almighty had already foretold his name, but here we all
00:12:17
Speaker 7: were experiencing it.
00:12:21
Speaker 4: Why my cheeks are still sore. I can't stop laughing
00:12:25
Speaker 4: and smiling.
00:12:27
Speaker 7: I can't either.
00:12:30
Speaker 1: Abraham and Sarah were positively giddy. Guests and servants alike
00:12:35
Speaker 1: had never seen anything like it, but their joy and
00:12:38
Speaker 1: their laughter were contagious.
00:12:41
Speaker 4: Who would have ever thought Abraham and I would be
00:12:44
Speaker 4: raising children. He's bee hundred years old and I'm ninety.
00:12:50
Speaker 4: Have you ever heard of such a thing.
00:12:53
Speaker 7: It is remarkable, It is a miracle. It is our God.
00:12:59
Speaker 4: It truly he is, Abraham, you have walked with our
00:13:02
Speaker 4: God for a long time and grown accustomed to his voice.
00:13:06
Speaker 4: I have always wondered how you sustained your faith all
00:13:09
Speaker 4: these years, waiting for the impossible. But now I hear
00:13:13
Speaker 4: his voice too. I hear his voice in the cries
00:13:16
Speaker 4: of our son here at last, and I hear it
00:13:19
Speaker 4: in all our laughter. God made me laugh when I
00:13:24
Speaker 4: first learned of his intentions for my life, but now
00:13:29
Speaker 4: everyone will laugh with me.
00:13:33
Speaker 1: Just beyond the opening of the tent stood the now
00:13:36
Speaker 1: thirteen year old Ishmael. He was on the cusp of manhood,
00:13:41
Speaker 1: and by custom and law, had been raised to become
00:13:44
Speaker 1: a clan leader. But in the span of nine months,
00:13:48
Speaker 1: Ishmael's future became uncertain. Ishmael loved his father and wanted
00:13:54
Speaker 1: him to be happy, but all this laughing was beginning
00:13:57
Speaker 1: to grate on him. Each peer of laughter and joy
00:14:01
Speaker 1: turned to mockery in Ishmael's ears. Their joy was his loss.
00:14:07
Speaker 1: Ishmael mourned the loss of both his father's favor and
00:14:11
Speaker 1: his inheritance. In the midst of the celebration of his
00:14:14
Speaker 1: half brother Isaac.
00:14:21
Speaker 5: Sarah, elderly and long past child bearing age, laughed at
00:14:26
Speaker 5: God's promise.
00:14:27
Speaker 7: I get it.
00:14:28
Speaker 5: Sometimes God's promises can seem absurd, but then God shows
00:14:34
Speaker 5: up and what once seemed impossible becomes the reality. And
00:14:42
Speaker 5: that is exactly what happened here. Impossibility became reality, Isaac
00:14:48
Speaker 5: was born, and laughter follows. It's a reminder that God's
00:14:54
Speaker 5: timing is not our timing. God moves in his own
00:14:58
Speaker 5: mysterious ways to his own divine rhythm, creating joy out
00:15:04
Speaker 5: of doubt and despair. And that's what God does here,
00:15:09
Speaker 5: he brings life to what was once baron. But before
00:15:14
Speaker 5: we get to God's joyous miracle, I want to take
00:15:16
Speaker 5: a look at the chapter's first verse, which seems pretty
00:15:20
Speaker 5: standard at first glance. It reads, and the Lord visited Sarah.
00:15:28
Speaker 5: But the Hebrew word used here for visited is pakad,
00:15:33
Speaker 5: which also means remembered or to count. It's basically making
00:15:39
Speaker 5: sure that nothing is missing. Let me say that again.
00:15:44
Speaker 5: And the Lord visited Sarah is how it's translated to English,
00:15:50
Speaker 5: but the word in Hebrew is pakad, which really means
00:15:54
Speaker 5: and the Lord remembered or counted Sarah. There was something
00:16:02
Speaker 5: clearly missing in Sarah's baron womb, which God remembered what
00:16:07
Speaker 5: had been a void God suddenly filled. Now let's think
00:16:12
Speaker 5: where else have we already seen that? Well, we've seen
00:16:15
Speaker 5: it from the very beginning, haven't we. When the earth
00:16:18
Speaker 5: was barren and lifeless, God's rua, his breath hovered over
00:16:23
Speaker 5: the void and breathed life and light into existence. This
00:16:29
Speaker 5: is also what God did as Abraham looked out over
00:16:31
Speaker 5: the barn uninhabited land. This is what God always does,
00:16:37
Speaker 5: he remembers. He takes count, and he fills the void
00:16:43
Speaker 5: with exactly what is missing. God speaks, moves, and acts,
00:16:49
Speaker 5: creating something out of nothing. Ysh me a'in, as we
00:16:54
Speaker 5: say in Hebrew, he did that in the story of creation.
00:16:58
Speaker 5: He does this in our life. And he did this
00:17:01
Speaker 5: in Sarah's life. Back in Genesis eighteen, when Sarah heard
00:17:06
Speaker 5: she would bear a child in her advanced age, she laughed.
00:17:11
Speaker 5: Why was she laughing? Well, she laughed in disbelief. But
00:17:16
Speaker 5: here in chapter twenty one, Sarah does in fact give
00:17:19
Speaker 5: birth to a son, Isaac, and she says in verse six,
00:17:25
Speaker 5: God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about
00:17:30
Speaker 5: this will laugh with me. I want you to hear
00:17:33
Speaker 5: this beautiful verse. In the original Hebrew Vitomar Sarah sok
00:17:41
Speaker 5: asali eloin call hashomah chak Lei. In Hebrew, Isaac pronounced
00:17:50
Speaker 5: zak literally translates.
00:17:53
Speaker 4: As he laughs.
00:17:56
Speaker 5: And even though the same word for laughed is used
00:17:59
Speaker 5: in both chapter eighteen and twenty one, there is a
00:18:03
Speaker 5: huge transformation in the kind of laughter each one describes.
00:18:10
Speaker 5: This isn't just a linguistic coincidence. The same Hebrew verb
00:18:15
Speaker 5: for laughed is used in both instances, highlighting a profound transformation.
00:18:22
Speaker 5: This time, Sarah was laughing again, not in disbelief, but
00:18:27
Speaker 5: in great joy that she and Abraham would have a
00:18:30
Speaker 5: son who could carry on the great adventure that they
00:18:34
Speaker 5: had begun with God, the adventure of the Chosen people.
00:18:40
Speaker 5: That if Isaac wasn't born, it would have just ended then.
00:18:44
Speaker 5: And so this is not just a joy for them,
00:18:49
Speaker 5: for Sarah and Abraham, this is a joy for the
00:18:51
Speaker 5: whole world, one that the whole world would be joyful about,
00:18:56
Speaker 5: would laugh about forever. The name Isaac forever marks this transformation,
00:19:04
Speaker 5: from the laugh of skepticism to the laugh of faith,
00:19:09
Speaker 5: from the laugh of doubt to the laugh of fulfillment,
00:19:14
Speaker 5: for not just this elderly couple, but for God's people
00:19:18
Speaker 5: and the entire world. This is the heart of the story.
00:19:24
Speaker 5: Isaac's birth is so much more than just the arrival
00:19:27
Speaker 5: of a promised child. It's the divine statement about God's faithfulness.
00:19:34
Speaker 5: Our laughter of doubt doesn't negate God's ability to bring
00:19:38
Speaker 5: about his plans. Instead, he can use our very doubts
00:19:45
Speaker 5: to highlight his faithfulness, and in doing so, he can
00:19:49
Speaker 5: turn our disbelief into faith and our doubt into joy.
00:19:55
Speaker 5: If they would have easily been blessed with the child,
00:19:58
Speaker 5: they wouldn't have looked at at it as the miracle
00:20:01
Speaker 5: that Isaac became. It was by laughing in disbelief because
00:20:06
Speaker 5: God held back this child, and so long that God
00:20:10
Speaker 5: held back this child for so long that they were
00:20:13
Speaker 5: able that they were able to laugh in faith in
00:20:17
Speaker 5: recognizing what a miracle he really was. Now look at
00:20:22
Speaker 5: your lives, my friends. Where have you laughed in doubt?
00:20:26
Speaker 5: And then where has God turned your skepticism into joy?
00:20:32
Speaker 5: How often have we all laughed off God's promises? How
00:20:36
Speaker 5: often have we thought his plans are too good to
00:20:39
Speaker 5: be true? And so often right as we do, God says,
00:20:43
Speaker 5: go ahead, laugh, doubt, question, but don't lose faith. Just
00:20:49
Speaker 5: wait and watch what I can do. Faith is not
00:20:53
Speaker 5: the absence of doubt. It's that within the doubt we
00:20:57
Speaker 5: continue to trust God.
00:20:59
Speaker 3: We can to.
00:21:00
Speaker 5: Trust his promises even when they seem laughable. And that's
00:21:06
Speaker 5: really the challenge in life, isn't it? To trust in
00:21:10
Speaker 5: God's promises, no matter how improbable they may seem to
00:21:15
Speaker 5: believe that he can bring life out of barrenness, that
00:21:19
Speaker 5: he can bring in our lives joy out of sorrow,
00:21:23
Speaker 5: that fulfillment of our dreams and our deepest prayers indeed
00:21:30
Speaker 5: will come out of waiting. This story invites us to
00:21:35
Speaker 5: embrace the laughable nature of God's promises, to see that
00:21:39
Speaker 5: God delights in turning our laughter of doubt into a
00:21:42
Speaker 5: laughter of joy. It's a call to trust in a
00:21:45
Speaker 5: God who specializes in the impossible, that what makes you
00:21:51
Speaker 5: feel the most despair will also the other side of it,
00:21:58
Speaker 5: embedding you the deepest faith when it comes to fruition.
00:22:04
Speaker 5: And this is an important point to remember as we
00:22:06
Speaker 5: continue our journey through the Bible, through this tale of
00:22:10
Speaker 5: God's chosen people, as his miracles grow ever and ever
00:22:15
Speaker 5: more impossible, sometimes even laughable. We see in the scriptures
00:22:22
Speaker 5: a burning bush speaks, the sea splits in, two flood
00:22:30
Speaker 5: falls from the sky, the sun stands still. A man
00:22:36
Speaker 5: is swallowed by a fish, spat out three days later,
00:22:40
Speaker 5: and he is completely unharmed. Truly, it's all unbelievable, improbable,
00:22:46
Speaker 5: even laughable. But next time you find yourself laughing at
00:22:52
Speaker 5: the improbability of God's promises, remember Sarah, Remember Isaac and
00:23:00
Speaker 5: your laughter be transformed by our mighty and loving God,
00:23:04
Speaker 5: who turns impossibility into reality. Our God, who is faithful
00:23:11
Speaker 5: even when we doubt, especially when we doubt, will lay
00:23:16
Speaker 5: blessings on your life as well. To speak more on
00:23:20
Speaker 5: the significance of Isaac's birth to Christians, let's hear from
00:23:24
Speaker 5: our trusted pastor and friend, Bishop Paulineer.
00:23:30
Speaker 3: Thank you so muchee. Well, here we are this extraordinary
00:23:35
Speaker 3: moment in this story. Now, I just want to speak
00:23:39
Speaker 3: about one word, if that's okay, One word laughter. Laughter.
00:23:48
Speaker 3: You know, and you look in your mind, but we
00:23:50
Speaker 3: often connect laughter to the emotion or the spiritual experience
00:23:57
Speaker 3: of joy. You know what. The scriptures say that the
00:24:02
Speaker 3: joy of the Lord is my strength, and that joy
00:24:09
Speaker 3: is good medicine. Oh that's awesome. But sometimes joy isn't
00:24:17
Speaker 3: connected to euphoria or because you're so excited and delighted
00:24:22
Speaker 3: about a situation. Some times you're exasperated. You've gone as
00:24:28
Speaker 3: far as you can go, and emotionally you're just spent,
00:24:35
Speaker 3: and so when you're flesh erupts in this laughter, it's
00:24:40
Speaker 3: not the same kind of laughter. Got a feeling, that's
00:24:44
Speaker 3: what was happening you'll remember in Sarah's life. But then
00:24:50
Speaker 3: she comes to this moment with her husband Abraham. They
00:24:54
Speaker 3: look at that boy and they hold their child, and
00:25:00
Speaker 3: she says, you know, everybody's gonna laugh with me now
00:25:05
Speaker 3: that he's been born. Laughter had become such a part
00:25:09
Speaker 3: of their new situation that they named their son Isaac
00:25:17
Speaker 3: it suck, which means laughter. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if,
00:25:25
Speaker 3: like me, you've also gone through some moments where laughter
00:25:28
Speaker 3: had nothing to do with joy or being excited or
00:25:33
Speaker 3: grateful about a situation. It wasn't even that you were
00:25:38
Speaker 3: exasperated and worn out by something. Instead, it's something being
00:25:44
Speaker 3: launched against you. It's when someone is marking your faith.
00:25:51
Speaker 3: They're ridiculing your great confession, what it is you believe.
00:25:54
Speaker 3: They're trying to minimize your intimacy with God. Happens to us,
00:26:01
Speaker 3: and sometimes we wonder should I quit, Should I throw
00:26:04
Speaker 3: in the town?
00:26:05
Speaker 6: No?
00:26:06
Speaker 3: Absolutely not. Listen.
00:26:07
Speaker 2: Listen.
00:26:09
Speaker 3: Nobody gets the miraculous until somebody is willing to look ridiculous.
00:26:18
Speaker 3: Can I say that again? Nobody gets the miraculous until
00:26:22
Speaker 3: somebody is willing to look ridiculous. So I'm speaking faith
00:26:28
Speaker 3: into your faith, and I'm telling you, go ahead, build
00:26:33
Speaker 3: a boat while they laugh. Stretch out your rot over
00:26:38
Speaker 3: the waters and expect them to part while they laugh.
00:26:44
Speaker 3: And talk to the rocks for water while they laugh.
00:26:48
Speaker 3: And walk around the city and blow a trumpet while
00:26:53
Speaker 3: they laugh, and sling your stone at the giant while
00:26:57
Speaker 3: they laugh. And tell the sun to than still in
00:27:01
Speaker 3: the heavens while they laugh. And tell that witch that
00:27:07
Speaker 3: the rain won't come, And tell that widow that the
00:27:10
Speaker 3: bread it won't stop while they laugh. And you look
00:27:15
Speaker 3: in the Christian scriptures, go ahead and touch the leper
00:27:18
Speaker 3: while they laugh. And cover the eyes of the blind
00:27:22
Speaker 3: man with mud you made yourself while they laugh. And
00:27:28
Speaker 3: walk on the waters while they laugh. And go pay
00:27:31
Speaker 3: your taxes with money that smells like fish while they laugh.
00:27:37
Speaker 3: I'm not finished. Rise from the dead while they laugh,
00:27:43
Speaker 3: And cast out devils, and heal the sick, and raise
00:27:47
Speaker 3: the dead, and demand to live while they laugh. Here's
00:27:53
Speaker 3: why most miracles happen in the middle of a mocking.
00:28:03
Speaker 5: Yes, the laughter of doubt and disbelief can transform into
00:28:08
Speaker 5: the laughter of joy in an instant, because God's promises
00:28:14
Speaker 5: are not deterred by our doubts. In fact, our very
00:28:17
Speaker 5: doubts can lead to his most miraculous displays of power.
00:28:22
Speaker 5: So wherever you are right now, even if you find
00:28:24
Speaker 5: yourself in a season of doubt or despair or discouragement,
00:28:29
Speaker 5: know this God's story isn't finished. You might have doubt,
00:28:37
Speaker 5: but don't lose your faith. He is planning blessings for
00:28:42
Speaker 5: your life, even if you can't see them right now.
00:28:46
Speaker 5: And I want to leave you with this special blessing,
00:28:50
Speaker 5: a blessing of my own Abbah, my own Father, which
00:28:53
Speaker 5: he prayed over me and my sisters, with words directly
00:28:58
Speaker 5: from the scriptures. May the Lord bless you and keep you.
00:29:02
Speaker 5: May the Lord make his face shine upon you. May
00:29:05
Speaker 5: he be gracious to you. May the Lord turn his
00:29:08
Speaker 5: face towards you and give you peace.
