Episode 69: Navigating the Pandemic Through Comedy with Kerri Pomarolli

It just feels good to laugh sometimes, doesn't it? Especially after the year we've all gone through.

Making people laugh is what Kerri Pomarolli does best, and I'm excited to welcome her on my show this week. Kerri is a Los Angeles-based comedian who performs clean comedy and shares the gospel during her shows. In this conversation we discussed what it's like to be a Christian entertainer in a city like Hollywood, how she is able to differentiate herself in a tough industry, how she fights the battle of comparison, and why we need to laugh often.

We recorded this conversation back in December, which allowed us to have a post-mortem perspective on 2020 as the year came to an end, and I appreciated her thoughts on how she was able to navigate a tough year and the pandemic season.

Kerri is the author of Confessions of a Proverbs 32 Woman: How I Went From Messed Up to Blessed Up Without Changing a Single Thing, which looks at how entertainers, especially Christian entertainers, struggle with the pressures to keep up with the seemingly impossible standards of Hollywood. She also penned a 60-day devotional called She Rises Late and Her Kids Make Her Breakfast geared toward time-crunched women longing for God.

She is one of the most sought-after clean comedians in Los Angeles and has worked with everyone from Jay Leno, Jim Carrey, Sherri Shepherd, Carol Channing, and Jerry Lewis. She's been featured on The Tonight Show 29 times, Comedy Central, ABC and more. She is a popular TV host, actor, celebrity correspondent (Showbiz Tonight), and currently writing films for the Hallmark Channel.

You can find out more about her and check out her work at her website kerripom.com.
